Dr. Kate Rubins

Microbiologist and NASA astronaut

She was the first to sequence DNA in space during Expedition 48/49 and has spent 300 days in space with 4 spacewalks. Before NASA, she was a Principal Investigator at Whitehead Institute/MIT, studying viral genomics and immune responses. She holds a PhD in Cancer Biology from Stanford.

Tom Luby, PhD

Director of Texas Medical Center (TMC) Innovation

He leads efforts in research, education, and healthcare commercialization. Previously, he headed JLABS @ TMC and held roles at Johnson & Johnson Innovation and Shire. He holds a PhD in Immunology from Tufts University.

Vineet Gupta, PhD

VP of Innovation and Technology Development & Transfer at UTMB

Also a Professor of Nephrology, and CEO of Medical Branch Innovations Inc. With 20+ years in drug discovery, he’s pioneered integrin-based therapies for kidney disease and cancer and co-founded three biotech startups.
